#100 and first silver thimble! Thimble pic added.

We had a warm afternoon, with only a few sprinkles, so I was able to make it to the silver farm, again in search of silver coin #100. As it turned out, this 45 Merc was the winner, and the last coin I pulled before heading home. The silver farm has turned out to be quite a good site, with lots of area still to search. Unfortunately, much of it is overgrown; we'll have to see what winter does to some of it. Other items of interest today were a 19 wheat, my first silver thimble (not pictured because it's hard to scan). The thimble doesn't have a top to it; is this unusual? When were silver thimbles made? Also pictured are the rabies tag and license for a dog in Allegheny County, PA, 1980. Safe to say, he or she is no longer with us. I'm attempting to add a picture of the thimble; inside the sterling mark on the outside is the number 13, stamped. Someone will know what this means; is it a size?

I've spent so much time at the farm that I forget everywhere else I've been this year. I found 45 silver coins at the other locations, for 145 this year (so far). This pales in comparison to several others on this forum, however!

No can do! I think all the Mercs went to the owners as thank you gifts (I already have almost two complete sets; you can guess which three are missing from each!) and the Roseys are being traded for better coins, along with extra Washingtons I've found. I could really show just a small percentage, and the effect would be lost.

I checked EBay for thimbles and saw one that was described as a Tailor's open top. If anyone can provide better links for thimbles, I'd appreciate it; I suddenly find them very intriguing!
