Wow - hard to believe I've hit the 1000 post mark. Just shows how much I love this site!!!

My last few hunts have all been from the campgrounds I continue to hit. I've been hunting these campgrounds for around 18 months now pretty regularly.

My latest hunt was Tuesday of this week. In addition to finding some poison oak yet again (with a small patch really close to my left eye), I got a few cool items. That's the thing I love about these campgrounds - every single time I go I find at least one cool item for my growing display.

Here are the finds from Tuesday's hunt, which included one silver coin - a 1964 Quarter, bringing my silver coin count for the year to 108...

Fantastic finds there man, what a place to hunt, it's obvious you came across where they not only hold boy scout camp outings, but apparentley some international ones there as well. I have never seen so many tie sliders in one spot, but with the knives, compasses, whistles and silverware its exactley the place they go. Nice finds on all the coins to, great assortment and some oldies to. You definatley got to keep going there, guarantee there is a lot more to find, keep up the good work and real nice displays, you should send a photo to the boyscouts, Ken.

It's hard to say. The only one with a date is the red colored one from 1962. I think a couple of the other round slides are even older - probably 1950's. The Statue of Liberty ties were produced in a campaign to raise money to repair the Statue of Liberty in 1949 or 1950, so they may be the oldest ones. Can't tell with the standard issue Boy Scout slides, but many of them are the old style with the single steel bar going across the back, which I suppose could come from prior to 1950. I don't know when they first came out with that style.

Thanks Ken, as a matter of fact I am on the Board of Directors for our local Boy Scouts Council, and I show my finds to them all the time. I have also put out my display of finds at several scouting events and brought along 3 or 4 detectors to let the scouts try their hand at detecting.
