Hello to everyone, hope you all got a chance to get out this weekend. We got rained out Saturday but yesterday morning the rain had stopped so I went out hitting the really rich side of town.

I was a man on a mission and ended up searching 3 schoolyard woodchip areas and 2 parks woodchip play areas. 2 of the schools and 1 of the parks had very small areas to search and these 3 places took only about a half hour each to cover. The third school had a lot of play area to cover and I had searched it last year also but it produced big time again this year. The other areas, I had never searched before. I hit it hard out there, 6- 1/2 hours total search time and then the skies opened up again and the rains came.

My pouch overflowed with finds. It was definitely a fun and productive day out there for me. My first good find at one of the smaller schools was a tennis bracelet laying right on top under the swings. It's got red and white stones and is hallmarked 925 on the clasp. Also laying on top here, right next to the swing support pole was a large 10K gold hoop earring, bent up, but gold, I'll take it! I saw a park on my way to the next school and hit that without much success, a few coins only. The next school was small also and I found a few things including a junk ring, a train flattened penny, and one kind of rare find, a matching pair of "925" earrrings. They are huge, triangle shaped with purple stones. They were in the swings area but not under the swings. They were only about a inch down in the chips located about two feet apart from each other. They are so heavy, I can't imagine someone wearing them, maybe that's why they were taken off and eventually lost. The skies were darkening so I decided to head toward home and coving the school I hit last year on my way. I saw another park so I swerved in and searched that too. It produced a lot of coins and another junk ring, and also an interesting old key on a plated gold chain, pretty cool. I also found a $1 Euro coin here. Someone had searched it sometime lately because some of the coins I found were at the bottom of holes that were loose and had been dug up recently?? Maybe they didn't know how to use their machine very well or else they don't like coins and threw them back in the hole and re-buried them. ::)

Finally, the last school, and this placed was really producing, tons of targets. My best find of the day too. A really nice ladies 10K gold ring with a blue stone, maybe tanzenite and ten small diamond looking stones surrounding it. Woooowhoooo! It was in an open woodchip area between the swings and a sitting bench at the edge of the play area. I always try to cover 100% of the woodchip areas, not just around the play structures and a lot of my good finds come in places away from the play structures. I also got a small 925 earring here too. Lots of trinkets including 2 more junk rings.

I have seen members keeping track of their ring total so I went back through my log and counted up mine for the year. Including today, my total rings count is 47.
10 gold rings, 9 silver rings, and 28 junk/trinket rings.

I was pretty beat when I got home but very happy about my mound of finds. It took me a while to clean them up and I was too busy last night to post my finds, so here's some photos of today's booty. 6- 1/2 hours searching time, $20.90 clad value and 242 coins. I found a ton of quarters today, 56, so that boosted the $ amount. That puts me at about 2500 coins and $173 for the year so far.

Thanks for reading and best of luck to you all out there, HH!!

Smiles!

how do u get your coins so clean.....im not having much luck cleaning my clad so i can turn it in someday......mark43

Hi Mark

Over half the coins were probably recently lost so they were just about perfect, no discoloration.
I only wash my finds in a bowl of water and use a scrungie pad to lightly scrub off the dirt and woodchip residue. The photo may be a bit deceiving as a lot of the coins are discolored but I don't worry about that. When I go to turn them in, I'll use coinstar or at my bank they have a coinstar type machine (no charge to use it) and I just plunk em all in in as found but washed condition. I don't tumble them or clean them in salt and white vinegar which will clean up the silver colored coins pretty well.

Thanks for the read and comment buddy, good luck to you.

Incredible as always! I think we need to spread some of that luck over here to the west coast! lol Just kidding, obviously it takes more than luck, you put in your time and know where to go! Thanks so much for sharing the little tips like the "whole" woodchip area instead of just around the equipment. I know David tends to just swing around the equipment and head to the next place, I showed him this post and I think we will be more thorough from now on! lol Maybe you should start a Bdoo's tip of the day?? ;)

Hi Cyn,
I am always willing to share the things that I believe in or the things that work for me. I try to pass a little along in my posts and my PM box is always open for any specific questions or comments. Thanks for sweet comment, appreciate it. Good luck to you and David.

NO WAY COULD I BEND DOWN THAT MANY TIMES IN A SIX HOUR PERIOD. Congrats BDOO for a great post.
Burdie :D

It's a bit grueling at times and I can relate Burdie. 6 hours is a bit much, including the 500 or 600 junk targets I dug too. Thanks for the visit and comment buddy.

Blue

Thanks for the smiles Blue.

You should try your old Whites machine in the woodchips to see if you have a little better luck and are a little more proficiant with it. The 250 is a great machine, I have one too, but my old TR is the king in the chips. Take care my friend, thanks!!

I would BDoo but I traded it in 1977? for a fangdangled whites 5000D, then the seven D (which i really liked hip mounted) and then gave to my son who traded it for a pack of baseball cards
and a glove. But you never know whats gonna turn up for sale?

There are good finds ahead for you Blue because you have the right attitude and drive. I will be looking forward to seeing them and smile knowing you deserve everything you find.

Thanks bud!

We don't have many rich areas on the west side of the state. Our kids only lose pennies.

I agree!!

Way to go BDoo! Your usual haul. Love the ring and purple earrings. :) All the clad, too. Superb!

Keep digging!

47 rings is a little obscene. ::) Crazy good. ;D

I've got over 40 silver coins for the year. But I think your stuff is worth more. Gotta take what you are given....I'm happy and I see you are too. ;D ;D :D

That one ring is another very nice keeper. I tell you, one of these days I'm coming up there to hunt with you.

Bob

I guess I should make a goal to get to 100 rins this year ::)
I need to get the guts to get permission at a couple sites I have been eying that I would bet have many rings. That will be my short range goal, by June 15th, stop in at least one of these places and take up the owner and see if I can get my skinny butt in there. :)

But your 40 silvers is rockin Bob, nice pile of silver!

Thanks for the read and great comment and I hope we doo search together sometime.

SUPER FINDS! The wood chips are one of my favorites too. I also search just around the outsides of the wood chip areas and find more than inside. I think it's because all the mothers stand outside the area and watch their kids play. The same also holds true to volleyball and basketball courts. Congradulations on the great finds.
Yep, you are correct PM. The perimeter just outside the chips is a hot spot for sure. Best of luck to you buddy, thank you for stopping in!

Great day and congratulations. I also find that I get more stuff in the open areas away from the playground equipment. I've noticed a couple of other Md'ers around here and they seem to focus on only the playground equipment. I hope they don't see this and ruin the open areas for me ;D

They are to lazy to read too waseeler...lol.
We'll just scoop up their unwanted treasures OK. Thanks for the read and cool comment. Good luck out there!

BDoo, what can I say that hasn't been said already..Wtg on your latest bunch of finds..you have almost exactly DOUBLE my ring count for the year.

My clad count so far is over $240 and I must say the weight of that much lost change is enough to make a pretty decent boat anchor :D

Keep it up, I enjoy keeping track of your progress. Try leaving a little for us though, K? ;D

HH,
Nat

Hey Nat, I will remember your first gold ring this year forever man, if fact, I remembered it before it even happened, I did predict it afterall...lol. You really wanted it and it was so cool when it did happen!

I hope you catch up to me buddy. This is not a race and I am really happy seeing you and everyone dog the cool rings and stuff, so keep em coming buddy. I am just dooing what I doo. ;D

Thanks a lot my friend!

WOW!! What a great day you had. Congrats!!! I am sure that rain helped. I know the ground around here has been more like concrete lately......

Dave

You bring up a good point Dave, I definitely think my detector works better and I find more treasure when I search after a good rain. Maybe the signal gets a little better. It would be interesting to know the physics behind that theory.

Thanks for the great comment! Good luck, HH!

That's just...well..that's an amazing haul. ;D
Congrats!

DD

Thanks DD! That makes me remember something... I counted the swings back and forth of the detector for a fifteen minute period while I was hunting last weekend and it was 450... that makes an estimate of 11,700 swings in a my 6.5 hour hunt. Now I am tired...lol.

Thanks for the read and comment!

If it was a race we could never win...I have seen people finding over 10,000 coins and tons of jewelry already. But for the hours you have put in (not many) very impressive! :)
