I waited until 7pm this evening until it cooled down to 80 degrees and hit a tot lot that was about 2 miles from my house. This large tot lot over the years had given up plentiful amounts of clad over the years but never a piece of gold. That is until tonight! 4 inches down in the wood chips lay a 14K gold ring with six diamonds and a blue stone! Someone before me dug out most of the clad and might have ignored the foil readings!:laughing7: Only 3 coins were found! A total of 16 targets were in the area, most were trash. Nice way to end the weekend!

I think you have color changing type of stone, not diamonds. Seems to be a white to blue color shift. It seems to change to blue in artificial light. Alexandrite goes red to blue so I dont know what your stones could be ?? Very nice find . Congrats.

What a way to burst you bubble. I just got back from a jewelry store and they checked out those 6 stones that look like "diamonds" with that laser thingy and they turned out to be CZ's..:( ..The big blue stone had them puzzled, they thought it might be a synthetic aquamarine? Oh well, at last the 14K gold is real...:) ...A gold ring of any type is still a good find...:)

You were digging low foil tones? I may need to rethink my tot lot procedures.

Great find!

Exactly, I am not a tot-lot hunter but have hit a few with the sole intention of finding jewelry. Low tones are a must.

Hey buddy. I used to hit them frequently. I would raid them at night after everyone was gone. Now a lot of parks are posted no folks allowed after sundown so I try to find ones with no activity. The finds are easy digging and the chance for jewelry is way better than randomly roaming through the sodded areas of a park. It's a change of pace that can be quite entertaining and rewarding. :hello:
