Okay...

So today I went out to the woods with my friend to hunt for some 1800s/1900s silver at an old "party place" (where people danced etc, can't find the word).
After digging countless of the usual bottlecaps and cartridges I went down a slope, off the paths. I stumbled upon a veeery faint and iffy signal jumping from 50-70 on my AT-Pro. I decided to dig it.
Boy was that a good decision. First thing that pops up is a Johan III of Sweden (1537-1592) 2 öre silver coin. I was stoked! First thing I find of 2017 became my oldest swedish coin I've ever dug!
I called my friend over to show him the coin. While he was checking it out in his palms I stuck the pin-pointer down the hole and what do you know - MORE SIGNALS. I really thought there would just be some iron or junk stuff there but oh was I wrong. I put my hand down the hole and ANOTHER 2 ÖRE!!!! "We have a coinspill here!". My heart was pumping fast. We kept expanding the hole because of more and more signals. 2 öres, 1 öres, ALL SILVER!!! (some very low content, 15 %) We removed two big rocks from the hole to be able to recover yet more silver coins all ranging from 1500s to 1620s. I ended up finding coins from Johan III, Karl IX and Gustav II Adolphus. This is the best thing I've ever found and probably will be... 4 years into detecting.

We ended up finding 9 silver coins, 1 and 2 öres from Johan III to Gustav II Adolphus. All from the Vasa dynasty!
Who buried these 9 coins? Are there more there? Probably! I have to go back with a bulldozer next time... heh.

The coins are: 1 öre 1615, 1616, 1610. One half öre 1615. 1 örtug 1590. 4 2 öre from 1573, 1573, 1591 or 1592 and one 157X

Congrats on the great finds.

amazing spill!

So the small silvery 1 öres are: 1 örtug, Johan III (the broken one), 1 öre Karl IX 1610, 3 1 öre Gustavus II Adolphus. One from 1615 and two others which I havent dated yet.

Is the word 'RAVE'? I may known a little about this.....lol

CONGRATS

Make sure you go back & take off the first 12 inches & scan again.

Incredible banner worthy find...I have always wanted to visit Sweden. I have family in Skara and I am the only one from my immediate family that hasn't gone and visited. Here in Washington State we have a little over 100 years of history...a coin spill like that would make National news! Congrats, hope you get Banner!

Unreal score! Congratulations, that deserves banner

Hi Highnam! Skara is one beautiful city... I love the cathedral and all the ruins around town. It is also one of Swedens oldest important christian seats of power.

That is truly an amazing find and one you won't soon forget. It's nice that you preserved the memory on video. Good luck on your return visit.

WOW! Find of a lifetime. Bet there are more there. Grid that place off & go low & slow! Banner vote in! Come on folks, this is what the Banner is all about!

Wow, very nice find, I voted Banner on this! Hope you go back and find more but if not, still a fantastic find!

We don't often see hammered coin spills here! Huge congrats, you show it can happen! Ok, rarely for us field hunters.....
