Even if it said genuine it would still be fake. :)

Right on cue. That's the guy that identified and walked me through the cleaning process. His word is gold in my book.....ugh did I just say that out loud lol. A dude in a spandex suit and cape

Don't sweat it my coin loving lil friend. To put your mind at ease just take it to a good coin dealer. Then you'll have your definitive answer

agreed, however even very careful grinding will leave an impression, always larger.I learned this the hard way when I found a 1943 copper penny.did magnet test and immediately made appt.for next a.m. with the nearest numismatist.was already spending the million in my mind.got there early after 2 1/2 hr drive.
took the man 5 seconds to tell me it was fake, was a 1948 altered.I could have easily discovered it myself if I had just taken a breath.got a heck of an education though, saw a collection of them.

I remember clearly that if someting is ground, its footprint is bigger

Definitely has the look of a gift shop Noe-1 copy. Many, even those made after the 1973 Hobby Protection Act, do not have COPY on them. A real one with a full planchet like this should weigh around 72 grains and be thin. Guessing this one is slightly smaller in diameter than the real article and thicker. Because of the core material, I'm also guessing it's heavy. The color isn't really a factor. I have a genuine Noe-2 that is "goldish." Good luck.

It might just be the pictures...One set looks plated or flashed in gold. The others look zincy(?) lol

Like Huntsman said, the area around the crack looks bent and straightened maybe...

It looks cast in the closeups. Just some stuff I can see in the pics. or think I see. :laughing7:

Maybe the pic below will help! Welcome Numismatics4life and I am sorry for my earlier comment! We get impatient when someone posts something such as your' coin asking if it is genuine and/or the value and they don't followup on replies. It is probably because most of us are old goats, LOL!!!

yeah sorry about not responding to the replies I tend to be very busy so I cant get on a pc that often. I try to get out with my md as often as I can. I am hoping to go out tomorrow with it and if I find anything cool, unusual, or of value ill post a pic.

Lately, most of us have been finding a lot of that, it is called record amounts of snow! LOL!!! Just couldn't resist that one but it's so true.

ok I managed to weigh the coin and it weighs 4.19 grams and the edge of the coin doesn't have a seam that would have been left by the casting process. also I honestly do not know if the coin is real because I specialize in coins from the mid 1800's to the late 1900's. also im only 14 so I have only had about 7 years of experience with numismatics.

If your only 14 years old and live in New England i am sure sooner or later you will find a real one if yours turns out to be a copy

Well said Rhode Hog. Nice to see a young person who's excited about tegus historical treasures. A rarity for sure and I hope everybody is helpful and encouraging for our new lil buddy.
