Haven't gotten out in awhile but had a window today. I have been hunting river banks recently. It's a bit risky but if you find a site there's a good chance it hasn't been hunted. Today I believe I stumbled on a very early site. A few indications of this are the enormous flat button and also my first pewter shoe buckle. I so wish this buckle was complete as it's my first pewter buckle and you don't see em often. I also found what I thought was a 1700 half penny but the obverse doesn't seem to match so I'm a bit lost and am sure someone will quickly straighten me out.

I also found a Crotal bell drop the other day (6 bells) then another at a different site.

I also found what appears to be another buckle piece that is bent.

I found a few iron tools at this site and am psyched with the old hoe. She's my first :tongue3:
Sorry bout the horrible pic image.webp

And here is the coin

Any info on the coin is appreciated. I'm hoping to get to the island where I found my first Spanish silver, Seated dime, and gun barrel. Thinking about spending the night out there. Maybe I can find that 1660s home site
Thanks for the replies guys. Definitely a 1749 George ii.

And a better pic of my hoe

Good hunt.
6 bells in one hole...pretty unusual, steelheadwill did something like that once.

I got out myself today first hunt in a long time.

Hey buddy been hoping to see some of your finds. It is so damn thick this year that it's been a real struggle I must say. Yesterday's hunt was really tough between the thick undergrowth and the heat and bugs. Very frustrating

Nice digs. I like the instant crotal bell collection. A lot of the smaller ones were really sleigh bells.

Thanks Steve I was happy to find the little guys as they match the bigger one I recently found. The couple that owns this property has a beautiful horse farm and she lives horses. I'm going to make a nice display for her and am psyched to have those to add to it

My first King George II was far from readable, all I could see was the outline of King George II's head (Young head type). No words could be seen, and there is a huge patch of corrosion where Britannia should be.

I hope we can see photos of the display, good job doing that for her.

Hey Coinman I will certainly post the display. I found a complete shoe buckle and a 1737 kg there last year. Found the 1660s foundation Friday but it's just too damn thick to hunt right now. Needless to say I'm excited for fall. I'm a builder and make custom cabinetry sometimes so it'll be fun to get in the shop and make a nice display.

Great recoveries sir.

You are on the history there. Old stuff. I am for spending the night on the island and hunting through a couple sets of batteries. You are finding killer relics!

Likely what I will do. Headlamp is all I need

Some great finds Buddy, if I were you I would stay on that site for a while, looks like a good one.

Again...... you are ROCKIN that T2 Buddy.

Killer bell spill. Don't see that often.

Thanks guys. Dave I would love to settle into that site but it's so damn thick right now. The ferns and undergrowth are nearly impossible to swing around. I spent a lot if time trying to make small areas to just be able to swing the detector a bit. And it's about a 2 mile walk one way on the edge of a muddy river bank. But this will be a site in the fall that I will hit hard. It's def a pretty early one.
Mark I'm def loving the T2 and am amazed at how well we've gotten along in this first year of detecting.

I look forward to the fall hunt too. Just got to watch out for the deer hunters.
