Got out to my friends property and scored these finds in a swampy low area near the homesite. After a few hours of beating the mud and shallows, I got a screamer of a signal that turned out to be the sundial. I cleaned it to give it some eye appeal and will need to find an expert skilled in restoring a piece like this. Thanks for looking!

Very cool banner find.
Love to see how it looks when restored.
Congrats

A HUGE WOW.....that one will be up top, no doubt about it. Conman123 dug one some time back but this ones even more a stunner. Wow!

Yeah, I'm voting banner on the sundial. What a unique and awesome recovery. I would love to see that restored - congratulation on the nice buckles too!

Fantastic sundial face. Banner worthy. Is banner determined by vote, and if so, how can we vote?

another totally awesome find today! another with the super wow factor! That would leave you shaking as you realized what you had found. another reminder of times long gone past in this world of instant everything. Banner? But of course!

I have never seen anyone find one a sun dial, that is just so cool! BANNER is my vote!!

That is AWESOME! You say you "may" have it restored - I would urge to do so! That piece is well worth the money to do so!

That's amazing. That restored would be so awesome and maybe worth some serious money to the right collector. Finds like that are what drew me more into this website. Now I can't stop looking at it to see what else people will discoved buried in the ground.

Congratualtions on the sundial relic! :occasion14:

Banner... well done.

Love to see a shot of the very center. I am voting banner on this find.

Great find. What I think is really interesting is the name on it. A quick search shows that there was a Walter Lane in Craven Co., NC in 1733. He was there from at least 1731-9 as he is listed here: https://books.google.com/books?id=v...6AEIPTAD#v=onepage&q=walter lane 1733&f=false . He can be found on pages 356 and 357. Oh, and banner.
Thank you very much for taking the time to post this research! Your help is appreciated very much!

Love to see a shot of the very center. I am voting banner on this find.
I will take another pic of the compass rose center portion.

Thanks to all for your comments and votes!!

Wow! What a find! First time I see one of those on this forum.

Banner all day long. That is completely incredible.

Congrats Keith, that's one of coolest things I've seen in a while. Banner vote in!--JB

Make the trip to the location on the sundial and find some related relics to go in a display with your KILLER sundial!
