1766 Hibernia, iron shoe buckle, 4 KG3's, 1798 DBLC, 10 coppers total, button...

I bailed on DIPA weeks ago, but couldn't get my hotel deposit back, so the Basstards of Bramble did a hunt of our own 1-hr from the hotel. It's an old colonial house and Hessian camp I've been trying to get to for almost 2 years.

Found 10 coppers myself, Bart and Charlie did damn good themselves. Virgin colonial is a difficult feat.

My favorite find of the day was the iron shoe buckle followed by the 1766 Hibernia. A close third was the 1798 Draped Bust.

Most everything we have is on Video, but Bartek needs to edit it at his office next week. Until then...

Enjoy and Happy Hunting!

Steve

Copper heaven! Glad you were able to make the most of that hotel deposit.
It worked out well J. Our little buddy mixed things up a bit but it seems to have worked out well with all the hammered silver you found as well;)
What can I say.....WOW!!! What a spot and JUST SUPER FINDS ya MADE!!!
Thx man
That's one special site- glad the research payed off. Hard to beat a handful of colonial coppers, but I especially like the Hibernia variant. Well done
I looked it up after I posted and 1766 was the first was year of this Hibernia series.
Bunch more great finds congrats to you

Scarppy- You are killing it, as usual. Im always in awe of your finds. Keep at it!!!!!

It was a good day. I was in awe of the amount of coppers. Before this my best day was 3 or 4

Well done Scrappy.

Great finds, that's a lot of coppers. Congrats.

It was an exciting day and can't wait to return. Thanks for commenting
Good lord that's a rediculous haul. Grats
Thx buddy
A day like that seems about unreal... But, i know you did, and man o man... Im gonna have to get out tomorrow!! Today was spent watching my 9 year old son catch a 20" trout and winning the kids fishing derby at my hunting club...

Sooo much copper though, thats like a regular copper mine!! Good research yields good finds... Way to go Bro...

So we bring those coopers to a bar last night. The owner comes out and offers us a pitcher for each coin. We were like HELL no! Lol

Thanks for checking out the post man

Whoa! Now that's my kind of detecting. Nice going. What is DIPA?

My man, Congrats to you and B.O.B. as a group. This whole situation was tough on a few of us. I was in a similar situation with a 3 night hotel reservation. Wish I lived closer and could have joined you. That's one of those super fun hunts with all of those great signals. The anticipation of knowing there's something old likely made of silver or copper just below your feet is pretty damn exhilarating.
Now for the incredible finds. As you know I could from a long line of Irish and Scottish very poor folks who came here to scratch out a better life. So I've always loved those Hibernias. I think the design is so cool. One of my very best and favorite coppers of all time is a 1760 Hibernia that I found. Yours looks great and I bet it will clean up a bit more. The altered LC is very cool as well my man. As you know I'm a huge believer in karma and I think it's awesome that you had such a great day in the same area as the hotel. You deserved it brother and you went out and did it. I couldn't be happier for ya man

You guys killed it, congrats on all those coppers

Wow! What an awesome bunch of finds. Y'all killed it! Big congrats!!

Heck yeah, you killed it! Are you still at the hotel?
Yes, we were there last night but checked out.
Great stuff Scrap. I'm salivating at your description of the site. Hit it hard bro!
We hit it again today. A bunch more coppers were found but none by me. Thx for looking
I think you're full of it......

LOL jk, awesome hunt, looks like a good choice!!
Thx Chris. It's unfortunate about the other "thing" but It was great finally meeting you!
I don't know why, but I freakin love that crudely produced four holed large Cent! It took way more work to drill those holes than it did to actually mint that coin. Almost like someone was making a pour spout or something. Back then, you didn't waste a penny unless it was for a kids toy or for some utilitarian purpose. And 10, count em 10, coppers, that's just crazy talk! Nice, very nice! Carl
Absolutely. I most certainly think that holed large cent was a repurpose. Thx.
That looks like an amazing site. Congrats on finding it as well as the finds!

It was great it finally came to fruition. The fact that it was virgin was even better. Nothing is worse than spending the countless hours and going there, and then finding the spot was already hit hard.

Steve ,scrappy that hunt was fabulous ,18 coppers between us thirty buttons who knows how many buckles
That was greAt research and great planning .
It was the first true virgin site I've ever seen , thank you for inviting me along as
Always happy hunting and good luck.

Sick dude... You "Basstards" really killed it. :laughing7: It's awesome that you researched this 2 years ago and finally got there and it appeared untouched. Well done man. I couldn't imagine digging that many coppers in one hunt. Hope you got to at least meet some people at the hotel and put faces to names.

Sweet hunt there, you killed it...congrats !

Well done Scrappy.
Thanks man, much appreciated. Thanks for looking bud.
Virgin site, tons of great finds = dream hunt!! Congrats!

Thanks Jeff. It was a dream hunt and my best hunt ever. A huge spectrum of finds covering a 100 year span. Most excellent!!
Whoa! Now that's my kind of detecting. Nice going. What is DIPA?
Hi Don. DIPA is that Diggin' in PA hunt Vino put together. Thanks for takin' a look! Cheers

Thanks Abe. Bur I don't believe I broke your personal record of coppers, lol. Yeah the Hibernia is an instant favorite copper and will be prominently displayed with my other bests. The design is wicked cool with the big 1766...

The iron shoe buckle is my favorite overall. They're just not seen often due to deterioration over 230+ years. Do you know if they were more or less common than similar brass versions?

Anyway thanks buddy. Talk to us soon

very rare to find a virgin colonial congrats!!!!!!

Great job on the double digit coppers! What a feat!
