I bailed on DIPA weeks ago, but couldn't get my hotel deposit back, so the Basstards of Bramble did a hunt of our own 1-hr from the hotel. It's an old colonial house and Hessian camp I've been trying to get to for almost 2 years.

Found 10 coppers myself, Bart and Charlie did damn good themselves. Virgin colonial is a difficult feat.

My favorite find of the day was the iron shoe buckle followed by the 1766 Hibernia. A close third was the 1798 Draped Bust.

Most everything we have is on Video, but Bartek needs to edit it at his office next week. Until then...

Enjoy and Happy Hunting!

Steve

Anybody know how DIPA went i didn't see anything posted?

~Blaze

You need to find things to post Blaze. Just joking I hope. Some guys know a lot more than me about the finds there...

No problem man. Glad you had a back up plan. It was well organized and a beautiful place there just wasn't anything to find

I don't wanna talk bad about it. It was very disappointing.

I could have held a hunt for us in my city and we would have found way more. It was hammered.

I spent a lot of time and money and was deceived. Oh well it sucks because future hunts I won't attend.

Amazing Hunt! You guys killed it! I've been extremely lucky to finds 3 virgin sites and will always remember my 1st one. The coppers (all 1700's) & buttons were popping out all over the place between myself & my 2 partners.

Thanks bud. This is my first colonial Virgin site. Very exciting. It took a little while to coax out the coppers but once we did it amazing;)

Anyways thanks for checking it out

Unbelievable! You guys made quite a haul. Big congrats!

Great stuff man

Be glad you didn't go. I would have loved to hunt with you guys. I've never quit a hunt in my life 22 yrs hunting but the dipa hunt did it to me.

I didn't return for the second day. When iron and foil wasn't even in the ground I was a little irritated

Oh well you win some and you lose some.

HH Jer

I lasted 3 hours on day one and was too fed up to stay, saved 70 bucks on checking out of the hotel 1 day early

Some of us lost $340 cause we booked on Priceline which is non refundable. But it's pretty obvious I've got much better hunting right out my door. I wish I could have met lots of you but I'm relieved that I was no part of it....bottom line is that we are out there to dig up some amazing pieces of history. I can join a damn book club to socialize. Sorry some of you had a bad experience. Just keep researching and making it happen for yourself. Like The Scrap Dog did lol

***ARC pictures Ahab at "book club" meeting***

"shhhh I cant talk ... I am researching this old property record " :P

Lol hardly got a chance to socialize, 3 hrs of angry swinging and left

Ya know something else just occurred to me, if you look at the hosts last 2 posts about Rev war encampment finds, it's glaringly obvious they came from the dipa "virgin" site......

Lol. That was just my haul! My buddies scored numerous coppers including a '94 Liberty Cap Cent

I hope you didn't rub all of this into Carolina Tom too much. I know he was up there. Nice finds and great research

Awesome digs Scrappy. 10 coppers on that site is astounding. Too bad to hear about the DIPA event. It stinks when the treasure is easier to find in your hometown than on the group dig. I drove an hour to hunt a well hunted farm field on Sunday and got a couple buttons, it was great fun meeting some new diggers but only modest treasure. Then last night after work popped an 1818 LC in a park near home. Was shocked to see it where I didn't expect one!

Cool looking site and some nice looking finds. With all that underbrush no telling what else is hiding in there.

I went to DIPA and found a sunburn. Honestly, I did find a few buttons but that was it. I did get to meet some people from the forums that I haven't met before but there were others I wanted to meet including you Scrappy, Brad and Abe....I did drink a beer for all three of you though [emoji12]

Thanks man, I was most bummed out about not getting to meet and hang out with all you guys. I flew down to New Orleans for 4 days instead and got my history fix in the French Quarter admiring Colonial French and Spanish architecture.... and I drank a beer or 6 for you too. :occasion14: No detecting for me, but I did see some street construction, right in the heart of the French Quarter, that exposed the cobblestones and I desperately wanted to stop and sift through the sand. :laughing7:

A friend of mine on Instagram went to the big event in Philly also. When he left the hunt he went to another spot to prove he could still find cool stuff and dug a 1832 Mexican reale lolololol

Thanks man. Unfortunately there's no telling what you'll so [in learning] in our hobby it's important to just enjoy being out. My story could have very easily read, "I researched a site and finally got there after two years. After 4 hours driving and hiking I found the spot already was hit".
Cheers

Thx Steve. I agree about the underbrush. 70% of that site was covered in heavy bramble. There's Spanish silver and a chain cent under that! Lol.
