I bailed on DIPA weeks ago, but couldn't get my hotel deposit back, so the Basstards of Bramble did a hunt of our own 1-hr from the hotel. It's an old colonial house and Hessian camp I've been trying to get to for almost 2 years.

Found 10 coppers myself, Bart and Charlie did damn good themselves. Virgin colonial is a difficult feat.

My favorite find of the day was the iron shoe buckle followed by the 1766 Hibernia. A close third was the 1798 Draped Bust.

Most everything we have is on Video, but Bartek needs to edit it at his office next week. Until then...

Enjoy and Happy Hunting!

Steve

Sick dude... You "Basstards" really killed it. :laughing7: It's awesome that you researched this 2 years ago and finally got there and it appeared untouched. Well done man. I couldn't imagine digging that many coppers in one hunt. Hope you got to at least meet some people at the hotel and put faces to names.

It was cool, I got to meet him and hang out with them all for a couple hours, good laughs. I'm meeting up with them all tomorrow (silver mafia)

I met Loco digger and a few other guys, it was great finally getting to see them all!

Nice finds Steve, your a great hunter and great researcher to find that spot!

My congratulations - fantastic hunt!
That Large Cent with the holes - do you suppose there was a purpose for doing that?
A sieve? A small classifier? :laughing7:
The results of that hunt are to be proud of...!

Congrats on the successful hunt. It was worth waiting for.

Damn Scrappy. Some people got it rough I tell ya:laughing7: Man what Nice finds! I have to say that holed LC is the wildest find I have ever seen. Nice stuff dude!---HH

That's the way to keep it happenin... Great action... Determination pays off... Make sure you attribute the variety of that 1798 Draped Bust 1c.... The difference can be substantial even in lower grades... Awesome haul

That is a great hunt...it's not too often you get to hunt a virgin site...you guys made it count...very nice finds congrats

I'll bet that worked out WAY better than had you gone on the hunt! That's why we do out socializing in the Winter... so we can kick a$$ when it's the season to dig. You know the old saying... when given lemons... dig 10 coppers! :headbang: Edit: I just looked through the posts and see Blaze got the saying all wrong. :)

That was greAt research and great planning .
It was the first true virgin site I've ever seen , thank you for inviting me along as
Always happy hunting and good luck.

Not too many virgins on Staten Island...sites, that is!

It was a good hunt, and the finds were only the icing. The best part was the friends...oh, and swimming in the 50 degree river

Amazing Hunt! You guys killed it! I've been extremely lucky to finds 3 virgin sites and will always remember my 1st one. The coppers (all 1700's) & buttons were popping out all over the place between myself & my 2 partners.

Wow Scrapster what a day the variety there and coppers is almost unbelievable!George,is that you?Haaaaaa
Life gave you lemons and your a$$ made Lemonade....:headbang:

~Blaze

Hahaha nope. George was at DIPA! Lol

Anyway, yes, it was an unbelievable hunt Blaze. After the second day the coins span 97 years. 1766 Hibernia to an 1863 fat Indian cent. Thanks for looking bud

Great stuff man

Be glad you didn't go. I would have loved to hunt with you guys. I've never quit a hunt in my life 22 yrs hunting but the dipa hunt did it to me.

I didn't return for the second day. When iron and foil wasn't even in the ground I was a little irritated

Oh well you win some and you lose some.

HH Jer

I heard about a lot of that was happening at the Hunt. I had at least 10 friends I know personally not attend the second day. Sorry it didn't work out but thanks checking out my post man.

Cheers

I've been thinking about it and Im still stumped. I've heard of them used as washers but that ain't it! Lol

Thanks IP, from what I hear between me and the B.O.B crew, we dug more cooper (19 total) than the entire event. Funny how a small single home site can produce more than a virgin estate...

Are you sure that "virgin" has never been touched lol. Or was she lying just a little????

Amazing group of finds, Scrappy. Keep up the good work!
