Within 15 minutes after turning on my Manticore in the field this morning I got a nice solid hit. Running at 28 sens in General Mode with factory settings, the number was big and stable, tone was high, and the graph a nice black circle to the right. I knew I had a large cent or halfpence. It was 5-6 " deep in the forest floor. I only gave it a light wash with water. Love that slick green patina. This is my second one of these coins. I found a rough one last year.

It weighs 156.8 gn., so not likely a counterfeit Machin's Mills as they were usually underweight. If anything, overweight from the standard 144 gn.

That is one great looking coin!

Beautiful! In case you're interested, it is a 16.1-m variety which is currently listed as a rarity 5, which translates out to an estimated 46 to 60 examples currently known.
