1789 King George III Gold Coin

Got out for the first time this evening since the DIV in March. I had surgery on my hand and elbow a couple weeks ago and have been unable to dig. I couldn't stand it any longer, so my good friend Bill (Hutch 911) and I, went to a 200-year-old homesite that I'd gotten permission for us to hunt. There were many signals but after digging a few holes, I thought I was going to die from the pain in my arm! I'm sure glad Bill was along, because my next signal, he could tell I wasn't doing well and he asked if I wanted him to dig for me. I graciously accepted! A few moments of digging and we both spied it at the same time....then we were trying to see who could grab it first! LOL After reading the date on it, we were high-fiving my discovery! Needless to say, after I recover a little more (and it's not raining) we will go back and hit that sight again. Thanks again Bill for your help!!!

To find a gold coin from the 1700s would make my year for sure so that is one special find without a doubt. What a shame more are not found to get our blood boiling knowing there is a decent chance of seeing something like that appear in the dirt!! CONGRATS!

Don

I think I have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding one of those! Were you using the TDI, DFX or another unit? If it was the DFX what type of VDI did a coin like that have?

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!!! Congrats on the banner!

Well-deserved banner. Any gold coin is a find of a lifetime, but that one is about as old as one could hope to find here outside of a shipwreck.

Fantastic dig!

Awesome Coin Todd!!! You certainly beat Doug and myself. He found a nice 1853 dime and I found a 29mm copper coin for 10 Centesemi with the figure of King Vittorio Emanuele II of italy with a mint date of 1866. How that coin got to Hartsville, Tennessee is a mystery to us. I bet your hand and elbow did not hurt as much when you saw that beautiful coin. Hope you continue to improve Buddy, Quindy.

Quindy, Sounds like you and Doug are doing well down there, I wouldn't turn down either of your finds! Hope to see you two soon...

Todd, I forgot to say Congrats on your second Banner. I believe you dug the 2 pc CS in your avatar that made Banner in December of 2008. Don't forget your poor friends in Tennessee (who can't find nothing) when CW relic season starts this Fall in VA-LOL. WTG Bud.

Mindblowing find!! Very nice!!

thats a real nice coin...a goldie is a prize we all desire.....will it be worth more than the book value as a 'relic' of colonial America ??
