Arty and I got out today on one of his permission fields and I'm glad I went. Started off slow but ended up with a shocker of a coin. 1793 Flowing hair vine and bar edge in pretty OK shape for a field find. Also found a pretty Connecticut, only my 2nd ever. Also found a bunch of blow hole buttons a nice little button with a tall ship on it. A watch key winder attached to a ring, skeleton key and other cool doodads. Thanks again Art. We know this field has been pounded in the pass and we used our keen skills to choose paths less traveled to find the coins.:headbang:

Stellar job on the coppers!! That 1793 is awesome!!!

Thank you all, I'm very fortunate that early american history is all around me in the state of NJ.

Great finds! I didn't even know about that 1793 coin variety. Must have been quite a shocker!!

Incredible large coppers! Wow...

I completed the Liberty Cap book (hehe), dug the 1794 and 95, but I still haven't flipped a '93 out of a hole! I think I want it even more than that gold coin which still eludes me.

Banner voted.

That 1793 needs to be professionally conserved and slabbed. Even with environmental damage that coin is valuable enough to purchase a brand new car, and it looks like it was high grade when lost. Banner all day today, tomorrow and forever. To see this and that 1861-S $5 found in such a short window of time on this board is truly amazing.

Wow that coin is rare and stunning!Nice haul i will vote Banner!

Wow that is an amazing copper. Congrats buddy and a BANNER find no question

I don’t know very much about the older US large cent varieties obviously because of my location but from what i am picking up from the comments on here this seems banner worthy! [emoji2][emoji106]

Thanks all! Don't know if getting it slabbed will add value or not but I'm not going to try and clean it much further. Will look good on the wall.

The 1793 is waaaay close to the top of my bucket list...and yours is 100% Banner worthy, not simply for the find but also the incredible condition. My vote is in...Ddf.

I've been revisiting your post off and on to see what, if anything, you were going to do about conservation, 3rd party grading, slight additional cleaning by yourself, or what. After reading the last few posts, I guess I have my answer. I don't blame you. Even under the dust, it is a beauty. With so many different types minted in 1793 it seems that is the magical date for Large Cent collectors. Congratulations !! I'd like to see this Wreath Cent and the recently found 1796 Capped Bust on top to go with the 1793 Chain Cent. What a collection those three coppers would make !!!

Lightning struck twice! :occasion14:

Beautiful group of early finds there! Congrats!

Thanks all. The banner system on Tnet can be a fickle fellow.. It will always look great in my display and thanks for the replies it is a once in a lifetime find. (Twice in my case)

very nice finds!

I understand that feeling of once-in-a-lifetime twice. I’m quite sure your beautiful coin will go banner but like you said, it looks great in the displays. I have my two Novas side-by-side and that’s all that matters. That, and bragging rights with your digging buddies. Jim, anyone that knows a damn thing understands how rare of a coin you dug. It’s quite unbelievable and congrats again!!

Well........as so often is the case, out here in Oregon, the nearest I'll ever come to one of those, is the picture of what you posted. Really REALLY great find. Love seeing this stuff.
