Yes, this is one of the reasons why all these fields many relics and ceramics, but warn that trash dumping is not the only ... Here we number the most important reasons.
1, The Via Augusta passing near these fields , was a Roman Imperial period and sides of it made several Roman villas.(the Roman fields are not shown on the map but are close)

2 The nearby town was founded in the 14th century, and the area occupied by some of these camps was a market situated in the outskirts of the city from the 14th to 16th century.

3 º in the 17th century became a vast field of vines and as you say the throwing waste into close to roads.

4 º These fields were the scene of several battles from 1701 till 1714 ... These battles were part of the Spanish succession war for this reason .... and found many coins from that period along with hundreds of musket balls etc ....

In blue fields are marked with more findings Medieval (closer to the city, two currency weightings and a seal matrix, support the hypothesis of old market), and red the last two days of hunting, the findings here are mostly musket balls, buckles and coins of 17th to 19th centuries. Which also appear in other fields (in this area of medieval findings also appear but less and only about roads) the hunting area is very large and in just seven visits, but I love walking in the countryside :walk:
the field with the blue dot is where the Seal Matrix ...
