Tip to a scabbard?

First pic looks like roof tabs, nailed in to hold roof/ felt paper.
Second may be a tip to a cane

I can see the cane tip.

The fasteners have no cut tip and are bent like hammered over from the back side. I lived in a early colonial home we had a copper roof. Could they have been used to attach slate to a metal roof?
