1802 Copper from Early Home Site

Hey T-Net It has been awhile . Revisited the old colonial home site at the farm today . House is long gone ,but part of the foundation still exists . Dug a few buttons , door handle , two lead seals , a copper band , iron hinge and plate , hatchet head , a few dozen shot gun , shell tops ,an 1802 draped bust cent " fine detail on this one " , a 1907 barber dime " recent drop from 100 years ago " , a :icon_scratch: mystery coin :dontknow: lots of shards and bottle top .The day ended with a large snake wrapped in my coil. :laughing7: Never saw anything like it ..slithered up to me and I nudged the darn thing and it tangled around the coil .. ;D I left my camera ,in the truck , that would have been the best shot . Fun day . Thats for taking a look . 8) CMDdawg

Hey dwayne .. reeded edge ,thin as a dime and slightly larger than the LC . Has a gold looking dot in the center .. found near an area that produced 2 KG's earlier ..rang up as a nickel on the CZ 7

aha! here's one that looks and sounds a lot like yours i found a couple of years ago in ny. little bigger than an LC, thin as a dime, reeded edge, sounded like a shotgun shell, and found in a site that produced lots of colonial and early american coins and relics.
unfortunately, it's one of my few unidentified coin finds. my best guess was a crude counterfeit 4 reale or half dollar. other side looks about the same.

Yep ..looks like the same one ! The one I found has a brass look to it with gold spot on one side :icon_scratch: makes me think it was a St. Patricks Farthing and the gold looking spot , is the brass plug that was inserted to make the crown colored ...yours is reeded better than this one .. too bad they are worn out :-\ Thanks for the pic and interest ,dwayne CMDdawg

Gotta love the Draped Bust :headbang:

I have two coppers that will never get an ID. I like them because it is always neat to try "one more time" for the ID. Maybe some day I will figure them out :dontknow:
