Went back over to the farm were I found the other coins the other day..And this time I told the owner I want a few things this time..And I would pick what I wanted...He agreed..So I went detecting. .Same spot as last time..in about 10 min 1 foot away from the other half cents I found this time I pulled a 1802 half cent...its a shame its not the 1800 back..But ill take it!!!! The only made like 20.000 of these...and its in great shape...could be worth a nice amount. .also found what I think is another william and mary??? And this cool flat button..It looks like the shank broke and they put 2holes in it and sewed it back on...Thats cool...Waste nothing back then...and last I believe is a tompack button???? Thanks for looking...oh ps..I believe I made out this time...I did show the owner everything. .just didn't give him the option. ..lol...HH..
George...

You have really been productive lately buddy. That half cent is a nice one. Don't see those very often. On my list, hopefully before my first full year is up. Congrats on your great finds buddy

I'm voting banner, that's a rare Half Cent

That's a great coin, but I'm just as impressed with that awesome button. The design is unique and the gilt really stands out. Very nice!!

The button is my favorite. ..I think them putting holes in it so they could sew it back on is the coolest...Thanks Bill..

On the condition + the rarity of this series - I'm leaning Banner as well - I just want to see a couple more of the "Copper Heavyweights "
weigh in on this one - Great find !

That's one of the nicest dug coppers I've ever seen! I wish ours here in Northern California came out of the ground that nice...our soil is super acidic, eats em up alive.....

I only have a 2010 RedBook. Some of the values on EBAY are ABSOLUTELY WAY out of whack for what they grade. Some,(or most) may disagree but given it is a ground found copper.....but in VF+ grade, I think $1,000-$2,000 is not out of the question. It may even fetch more on condition of the reverse alone. Most of the reverses I see are very week. Yours is EXCEPTIONAL! I look at what I think the grade would be.....then take half off for ground found, which ANY collector can plainly see. REMEMBER.....The REDBOOK is just a GUIDE! Being that it is pretty rare, and some people would need it to fill in their collection, you may get a buyer to pay more, just on condition, ground found or not. I think you'll find it up top shortly. CONGRATS! I usually wouldn't recommend an auction.....but with this particular one, I could see collectors possibly fighting over this beauty! Ground found or not. Any of you so called coin experts that read this....Remember.......The RedBook....or any other "guide"....does not price or grade, or allow for damage caused by the ground. Case in point.........Look at the Vermont RR-7 copper in my avatar. I had some of the biggest colonial collectors in the world look at this, in the metal, and literally drool over it. Stacks classified it as MINT STATE! If it were in a collection instead of the ground, not only would it have been one of the finest landscape coppers known, but probably would have fetched about $30,000. Being a ground find..... It sold for $1,275. It is, what it is.
