I had a great time yesterday & saved a very unique piece of history! This is a silver mechanical pencil with a perpetual calendar (I've helped ID a few before & always wanted to find one!) It was made by Addison & Co., NYC circa 1820s-30s. Notice that the decorative tip is inside, I was scared to try any repair on that. This was my first target of the day & the best! I'm definitely happy to have this in my collection. It was a scorcher but fun nonetheless! Awesome save, love the calendar part! That's when they actually had pride in their work.

I love mechanical pencils for line sketching, but had no idea they can be so old. Thats's a sweet find. I'm adding one to my bucket list. :icon_thumright:

Congrats, is it marked as silver or sterling? I found one that I also think
It's silver and I also think it's a mechanical pencil, but could not find any markings.image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

They go back at least into the 1700s. The George III ones are very similar

Now that is one cool old unusual find and silver too.
Congrats.....

That, sir, is a fantastic find!

That is sweet. Congratulations on finding one from your bucket list! Perhaps a skilled jeweler could do the repair while keeping the integrity of the find intact.

I love that find! Love the detail work throughout the pieces.

That would be nice, I can see the highly engraved tip in there. Not sure how much it would cost, probably more than it's worth

Killer Josh killer! Congrats on a spectacular find!

Very cool find, I'd love to find one of those, congrats!
