1833 Capped Bust Half Dime

[Silver Tree Chaser]

I broke in a new 11” DD coil for my Minelab Explorer on Sunday with this 1833 Capped Bust Half Dime. I had found a nicely detailed two-cent piece at the same location last year, which I gave to the property owner as a keepsake a few weeks ago. I was welcomed to come back and search further (the site also produced a possible Dutch glass trade bead last year as well). This new find is my second Capped Bust coin in many years of detecting, so I guess it was a good trade for the two-cent piece. I also recovered and Indian Head penny and some flat buttons. The property was recently dug up in one small area. I think that I might have located an old trash pit at the end of the hunt, but I couldn't stay. I plan to get back there soon.

Good Hunting!

Love the half dime, fantastic condition. I haven't found one of those yet, hoping its just a matter of time.
