1835 capped bust dime

found this at an old home site today a mint 1835 capped bust dime and hears a link to the video of the hunt...... ............

Sometimes I clean sometimes I let them as dug i decide on a coin by coin basis. That patina was sweet that was one I would have left as is. But congrats on a stellar find and it looks great cleaned up as well.

That was a top coin on everyones list to dig. Probably $300-$500 in original state, now about $25. It is your coin, and you can clean them however you want, but I think over time you will realize what a giant mistake it was. The original patina on that piece was good enough to add value above the grade of the coin.
I don't mean to rub your nose in it, I just want you to know that I learned the same lesson. I took a very nice toned 1899S Barber Quarter I found, and made it shiny. Coin shop guy asked me if I liked lighting money on fire. That was my wake up call. Hopefully, this will be yours.

I agree, all serious coin collectors look for silver coins like this (black toned, uncleaned), whether its medieval or more modern.
I've have had my cleaning mistakes & I now realise that its better to leave it as is & have the choice to clean it further than clean it & have no choice.

Nice coin man, Can ya tell us how you cleaned it I dont generally clean coins for the $$$$$$$$$$$$ factor but i have one that Looks a bit miserable and not worth a huge amount so would like to give it a quick going over. anyway congrats on the nice find

That is a beautiful coin, and probably looks very much like it did new. Unfortunately, that's not where the value is; it is so hard to resist that urge to clean! A great find!
