1835 Large Cent (Off-Center Strike)

Found this really interesting Large Cent today. Probably the last coin of the year for me and it's a good'un! Enjoy! Any idea what this would be worth to a collector?

That's a good question. Not sure how much that could add to the value but I'm sure it will add some, no doubt. Really good eye appeal on that copper. Congrats!

Wow, that is really off center.
It's in really good shape too.
I would arrange for a Grading & Encapsulation by
PCGS. That will put you in a better position to put a price on that coin.

A great save on another outstanding copper ! Although a middle date Large Cent, this piece is of special interest because of the off-center strike. I believe this is the last year coins were struck at the Philadelphia Mint using horse power. In 1836 the mint installed a 10 H.P. steam engine to power the equipment. Cincinnati, OH, is an old river town, and of course, rich in history. Did you find this wonderful Cent in a city lot, or nearby field? How deep, near water, etc.-etc..? Anyway, you did well. That is quite a trophy coin.

Rare, rare most of the coppers anywhere close to that date have been toasty so to find one with good detail AND an severely off-center strike is a great find! Congrats and thanks for posting it.

I found this in a yard of a house built in the 1850's, but there was a house there in the 1830's that burnt down. North of Cincinnati so not close to the river really. I've found some great coins and other items from this site. It was about 7" and under a root.
