1840 Strech Glass Vase

My dad has been collecting glass vases for sometime now. Last night i went for a visit and they gave me and my fiance a bouqet of roses in one of his vases. I told him i would bring his vase back ASAP, but he told me he wanted me to keep it.(i always get goodies when i visit, Civil war relics, oil lamps, vases, ect...) Any ways he went on to tell me what he knew of the vase. He was told by a experienced vase guy that it was made in the 1840s. I am curious if there is a web page that might help me get some info on value and what not. I would like to insure it because of the rarity of these vases. (we spent months tracking some down when i was younger) Any help would be greatly appriciated.
