Greetings fellow dirt fishers,
It has been a long five weeks but with the January thaw I was able to get out and do some digging yersterday. I hunted the bean field again and found 1 wheatie, a few square nails, misc, and then dug this Large cent down about 6 inches. Sure was a great way to start the year.
Best luck and thanks for looking, Merf

Great job on the large cent, Merf. :)

I hope you're using a coil the size of a hoola hoop for that field!! There's a lot of area to cover!! :o

Merf,That is so cool I would kill to find a large cent.I guess I will have to make a road trip to find one.Congrats and good luck on your next hunt.

Hi Merf

Wow... it may be a large cent but looking in a field of that size relegates it more to a needle in a haystack.

Do you hunt by following the rows across the field or just wandering around wherever your heart pulls you and using hunches?

Nice coin.

Thanks for sharing with us the pictures and the environment of your finds.

Merf ... that is one nice LC ... congratz and continued good hunting!

Nice large cent! Congrats! I'm still looking for my first.

That's a nice find merf. By the looks of the size of that field id say you'll be homesteding that place for years.

Nice large copper Merf. I was jonesing to get out today myself (60 degrees here in upstate NY) but I had too many errands to run. Congrats my friend. Great way to start off the year. ;D That field picture gets my blood pumping. You could spend months there and not search the whole thing.

Nice going Merf..you've got a great collection going, keep it up!

Nat

WOW great find merf :o hope there is more for you there , congrats ;)

Nice LC Merf. How'd you clean it? The one I found last week is in about the same condition.

Merf, OUTSTANDING!!

I thought those large coppers could only be found out east. . . (PA to be precise) ::)

Take care,

Thanks Sanat------I just hunt in the area of the old homestead and use marker flags like the utilities use for julie meets. I hunt the area north to south and then east to west.
