Relic Hunting
With rain forecast for the weekend and early next week, we opted to make a rare back to back Trio hunt this week. A short hunt at a U.S. Infantry & Cavalry camp was in order and we got an early start with frost on the ground and temps. in the mid-20s. We had over 2 inches of rain last weekend so we hoped the F75s would find some deep targets and they did. Doug recovered 2 eagle buttons in a delicate condition as that part of the camp has apparently been fertilized heavily in past years. Josh dug an Enfield bullet that is very rare to find there.
I dug the least amount of relics today because I went in a direction opposite of Doug and Josh. They hit a little hot spot and claimed they tried to call me on my cell. Since I had no missed calls on my phone, Doug must have dialed Josh or somewhere-LOL. I have to watch those two all the time-LOL. Happy holidays from the Tennessee Trio.
UPDATE: Josh's Enfield had a L 2 Base Mark!!!

Quindy, are you saying that you did not contribute to the relic rag? It looks pretty good.

Great finds as always :occasion14:

You guys always make some nice saves!

Great hunt Quindy. Now I am going to have to go back and check my Enfields that I found earlier. I have to remember to check the bases more often. At DIV two of my buddies were digging Washington based minnies and all of mine were plain. And we were hunting the same field. Go figure. What is the twisted wire at the top? I dig a lot of those and thought they were modern. I hope you don't make me go back thru my scrap bucket. lol.

Randy, they are twisted wire sections of a gun brush and pictured on page 98 of the Crouch relic book. These are most often found in Yankee camps. This the only one we have seen in this camp to date. Get that bucket out and HH near Chattanooga, Q.

Good fun guys.

Love the lead.

Good video and hunt Quindy. I enjoy seeing what you guys are digging. That place just keeps on producing and all of that from a short term camp! Good job. Tennessee digger

Thanks G2 and HH.

Donnie, every time I think it's not worth the trip, it produces a few relics. You don't think Doug & Josh would forget to call me when they found a concentrated spot of relics would you?-LOL. Call me Monday. HH, Q.

Thanks Richard and Happy Holidays to you, Andrew, the girls and your other family members.
Greg, that's a good idea. IF they locate a hot spot, my "observer" could blow a boat horn so I would know to work my way over-LOL. HH, Q.
