For those coin shooters out there, you may appreciate this one- a 1868 Three Cent Nickle. These are tough to find metal detecting. You don't see them dug up often. Glad to save this one. Using the Elliptical coil at 26kHz it rang in the 50s. Low conductor.

Very nice! I have only ever found 1 of these an 1881.
 

Yeah, they are hard to find cuz they ring up pretty low...I’ve only found one, an 1865 model. I didn’t have ANY idea what the hell it was til I got it home and researched it. At first I was thinking it was a token of some kind...
Nice work on that find, don’t be expecting any more any time soon! That is a TRUE bucket lister, because of the rarity and because of where on the Conductive scale they fall.
 

LOL, I found one along an old logging railroad and also didn't know what it was until after I joined this site. Mines a 1865 model also.
 

Grats on adding that type to the list of successes. It could happen out here, but I'm not holding my breath.

what an awesome coin! and in decent shape too. congrats on both coins. bucket listers even if you never knew they existed before, way cool and exciting finds as well. Congrats my friend
