Took this out of the safe just to have a look after 20 years. This medal was first made by A. Vechte Tot te Fecit in 1854 and later produced in 1869. It is in perfect ( a 10/10 plus condition ) for its age. The London News did a story on the gold medal on May 08, 1869 with the same design. Any thoughts of today's value ?? Thanks to all ....

i would suggest an auction with Heritage or Stacks would be your best bet. there is a large collector community for medals, but you need at least 2 voracious bidders.

Are you saying the metal you have is gold?
If so how much does it weight, and purity?

No, the London News story is about the gold medal for this design and subject matter. My medal is bronze....
I wish it was gold .... I would have no problem knowing the value then .......

I forgot all about MA Shops as I did check them out for other items many, many years ago. Back then 20 years ago I paid 300 bucks Canadian which was a
decent price for it. From your info now that is around 2 grand here.... Pays to forget about things for a while...
Again thanks so much Red-Coat & have a good one .........
