1893 $20 gold coin

I have an 1893 $20 gold coin. It is in a package labeled ms60. I know nothing about coins. Could someone tell me what I might expect to get for it if I were to sell it?

What is the mint mark on it? It should either have an S or a CC listed on the package or you should be able to see it on the back of the coin under the eagles tail.

$322 But that was 2000
They have almost an ounce of gold in them and I have seen them on sale for $1000+ for a lesser grade when gold was cheaper, If you sold to a coin dealer you would probably get a little more than melt value.

Which would be a little more than $902 right now.

Coinworld Coin values for May 2009 lists the 1893 plain (not S or CC), at $1350.
If your slab is a PCGS slab then you should get around $1100-$1150.
If the slab is NGC, Anacs or ICG, you will get slightly less.
Any other slab, you will get slightly less than the others.

First question is what is the "package"? If it is just a holder to protect the coin that someone wrote the grade on, or a do it yourself slab, then it could be counterfeit or overgraded. If it is genuine and properly graded or in one of the respected graders slabs then it should be worth around $750 give or take.

It's worth at least $1000 on 9-23-09. Just in weight alone. Just shy of an ounce.

Yup, sorry not keeping up with gold prices, guess that is why I collect copper! Still need to know if it is real and properly graded.
