I hit my usual site this morning for a quick hunt, and found a nice 1901 Barber quarter.

It was not super deep, but was 3" from a key and a piece of iron. Definitely masked the signal a bit.

Unfortunately it has no mint mark, hoping for an 'S'.

For those that are counting, this makes it a big silver hat trick for me.

I have dug a 1901 Morgan dollar, a 1903 Barber half and this beauty from the same field.

All have this distinctive corrosion on them as a result of close proximity to salt water (I believe).

Thanks for looking and HH!!!

Nice large silver, congratulations! :occasion14:

Yea, an S would have been nice... Good score!

I've never found one. A little jealous. Congrats!

Very sweet Barber! I would've been sweating bullets living where you live and hoping there was an "S" mint on the back. Oh well, congrats on a nice find regardless!!

Nice barber. With treatment that black crud comes right off. PM me if you're interested in the recipe

Nice barber quarter. Strangely, that's one I keep skipping over. Found a lot of barber dimes and actually 3 barber halves but the quarter never seems to come. Congrats!
