This morning at Heil I got this 87 Injun..............another one you guys missed KenB.....lol...lol...how's the back!

Thanks for the replies guys.

Heil Park oh what a beaten pounded mess this place is.....picture a grove of trees and rocks and mineralized soil..............over the years the old timers (sorry Fred and Carl and Ray) will tell you and show you the 200 plus Indians, and 3 cent pieces, and Barbers and seateds, they have found.....I have learned a lot from these guys simply by listening.

Well yesterday I started the day with a trip to Hotel Wahnetah which let me tell you is unhuntable..........my guess is when they knocked the hotel down they pushed everything from below.....up.....with earth movers.

So now the hotel and land has been backed up to the side of a mountain...there are some trails and I did pull a musketball..not what I was looking for.....I thought this place is undetected till I saw the remnants (sp?)of cigarette butts and shallow covered holes.

it rained on me and so.......

That evening I had the itch and Heil Park is always there........

AND its still giving up the goodies...I detected the main area for 3 hours and head for my chevy truck......kept the detector on and 50 feet from the truck bing bing bing 87 86 VDI (yep I'm giving something away) ........shoot again can, metal slitsky, now wait I've got the pre-amp gain pushed up about 4 spots so its really hot .................two big scoops with the relic shovel and back wings .............................yes ..............

1902 Barber Quarter

I'm driving home after telling a first hunting buddy and my wife then get Tom from Philly on the line about some Sunday detecting and he's like ho hum.....hanging around with JD too much....

aloha johny mc.

if anyone has a story about that last swing find I'd love to hear it.

For me my best finds are usually my last swing...I get excited and head for home after a big find.

Nice Score. ;D ;D If you are going to find one keeper it might as well be a dandy.

Stories.... Usually I'm walking too fast to the car to detect properly on the way back. When I give up I tend to just shut off the machine and walk back to the car with the machine off.

Nice coins johny.

The good old parks are so hard to hunt out. I have a few like that. No matter how hard you work them you can never get it all.

Since part of the fun to me is in the challenge of detecting, pulling a Barber out of a pounded site makes it all the more sweet.

My "last swing" find of all time was a 14k gold ring at the Jersey shore, which I found because I left the detector on while walking back to the car. This was a good 10-15 years ago. I wasn't even swinging the coil!! I don't think I could ever duplicate that stunt.

Hey John
Way to go. I've missed getting out lately. Got tons of work to do before the new baby arrives any day.
Can't wait to see a pic of the seated dime from last night.
Talk to you later,
Mark G

Remember the old Saying.........."No Site is ever hunted out" HH

some nice finds!

as for "....hanging around with JD too much...." - geez i didn't know Tom moved to Missouri. *L* You should be glad JD did because he'd clean that spot out in a week! :)
