Cache of 8 nuggets total of 6 grams !!!

2025 started out rough for me. I had 3 surgery's from Feb to May and lost my brother in March and my mom in April. Haven't had a whole lot of ambition to get out and do much of anything. But I have gotten out twice.
An old friend ,who is in his late 80s ,told me about an old cabin site he used to camp at about an hour and a half away from here, on a friends property, he secured me permission and said his friend said I could keep whatever I find. So I took off yesterday and got over there and got a hotel room.
Felt good this morning ,got up early and drove to the spot he lined out and unloaded the ATV. It only took about 45 mins to find the spot. I found a few relics and was getting worn out pretty quick . I was ready to head back down to the truck and head home, then I ran the GTI 2500 over the rock foundation and in about 5mins got a trashy iron hit. Honestly , I had visions , hopes and dreams that it might be a pistol but it wasn't it was just a little can,,,,,, with 8 nuggets in it ☺😎🌞🎆🎉 I guess I need to get out more !!!

is that shell casing rimfire? one pin strike or 2?
that consolidated fruit jar company very likely fits in with the pikes peak gold rush.
is that an old handcuff key.
i would re hunt that place if you can.

Lead, it is a shot gun brass, the headstamp says, Winchester Leader No 12 and the primer is stamped also but can't quite read it, believe it says w.r.a.co and a 4. I don't know if the key is for handcuffs ??
I will be going back ! Just got off the phone with the owner, wanted to let him know what I found even though he said I could keep what I found. I texted him a picture of the nuggies ,He was just as surprised as me ! I offered them to him , he was quiet for a few seconds ,I heard some muffled talk with his wife, then he said " how about we split them " I said " your property ,you get first pick " and he agreed !☺ Now I have standing permission for me and my Honey to camp and detect anytime and dig if I find any bottle holes. My buddy who turned me on to this place is gonna get a box from Omaha Steaks !!☺

I am sorry for your tough year, seems that we all got something that knocks us down a bit as we trudge through life. I am glad you got out there and fought back...I know it ain't easy sometimes.

Over the years, I've been on a few different metal detecting/treasure hunting forums and have seen people use the term "cache" when describing their find, which in most of those cases were actually more of a pocket spill because they were describing a few coins that were found together or near each other in a park or in the yard of an old house. The definition of a cache is a collection of items intentionally placed or hidden away. Your find is a TRUE cache, and one of very few I have ever seen posted. I think that makes it a very special and most awesome find worthy of a banner spot. Congrats, that's really cool. Also, my condolences for the loss of your family members.

Thank you all for the condolences and the congrats !!! The owner is going to come up from Denver next weekend for the split , he told me there are 3 more cabinsites on the property to play at also. I've got some ambition again !😁

Hello and AWESOME find!!! I skimmed through this thread and saw one member mention a possible nearby deposit. As a gold prospector myself, most, if not all, of those nuggets came out of a stream or creek. You can tell by the smoothness of most of the nuggets which was caused by time in flowing water. Those nuggets that are still “jagged” or rough in appearance, most likely found in the same creek or stream, tell me they were deposited into the creek not too far from the gold vein. They weren’t in the creek long enough to exhibit the look of the those the smoother nuggets that were eroded by flowing water. I’d bet that if you found a nearby creek or river near that property (obviously on the same property and with permission which you already have) you may very well have hit a mother lode now that we have detectors capable of finding nuggets as opposed to having to pan for gold which is basically all those old timers mainly had. I’m rather envious. 😆. Congrats!!
