1902 quarter

Hit an old road tear out with my dad this morning. The place has been our stockyards for a 150 years or so . Dad found some old chunks of plumbing lead and I finally got a good signal on the Dfx and out popped this Barber sticking out of a clod .
Figured it was clad as the color looked about usual for one . Was quite surprised after a bit of cleaning in a near by puddle . 20 minutes later the end of my lower rod came apart . I guess all that banging around in the rocks with the 13" coil done it in .
Dad saved the day with a roll of electrical tape in his truck .

I have a few more rod ends but I think some epoxy with take care of this one .
I have the quarter soaking in some vinegar. Might get it a little more presentable.

Any Barber is a great find, congrats! I assume the detector shaft is hollow. If so, epoxy a short piece of a wood dowel rod into both pieces to make it solid. I have fixed broken fishing rods this way using metal rods.
