My wife collected this from so long ago she no longer remembers how she got it. I have only wiped it down with Acetone and a microfiber.

Wasn't going to polish it until I know what it is. I assume any numismatic value was ruined by the Loop being attached.

The phrase "Vezetett [Year] évben" is Hungarian and literally translates to "Made in the [Year] year". This indicates your coin is a commemorative token, playing token, or medal produced to replicate historic Austrian-Hungarian currency, rather than a standard circulating coin. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] per AI
Don in SoCal
PS: The loop, as you refer to, may be part of the original piece.

Thanks.

Interesting find, but as @Mackaydon says, it’s not a coin and it isn’t gold.

The phrase “VERETETT EVBEN EZÜSTOZOTT” translates as “struck/minted in silver plate” in Hungarian and the legend “FACUT IN ANUL 1913 SUFLAT CU ARGINT” on the other side translates as “made in the year 1913 in silver plate”, in Romanian.

Although loosely styled on a gold 20 corona coin from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it’s a commemorative medallion to mark the end of the second Balkan War on 10th August 1913, following the signing of the Treaty of Bucharest.

Values tend to be between about $15 to $35 depending on condition, and not detracted by the suspension loop.

I presume a jeweller has subsequently gold-plated it.

Poor lighting I used while taking pics gave the gold like appearance, sorry. Certainly brass plated with silver and part of it has worn off face and neck already. Thanks for the info.

I stand corrected. After applying a polish to it and then acetone wipe it now looks gold plated.
