1940 Wheat!

My first Wheat back, 1940! May not seem very much to alot of people but my first. I have been hunting for about a year and found alot of clad, now if I could only find some silver.

It comes when you least expect it 04 Diesel, you just have to dig every signal...that's the best way...i hunted in all metal mode until i was familiar with the signals,then started discriminating out iron and stuff. Way to go on your 1st wheat penny.

I found my first silver in the ground last month in the most unlikely spot. I'm sure you are not far away as long as you keep at it regularly.

Found quite a few wheaties, one merc and several Rosie's (pre-64) in my front yard....they are there, waiting patiencly for you to find them...don't you love HIDE AND GO SEEK LOL

Good job..if you want to find some more, check some of the older neighborhoods..Cahokia has some old parks and schools where you'll probably find more.

I found 196 wheats so far this year, found in neighborhood yards that are 50-60 years old. Silver isn't always guarenteed, but there's a greater chance of finding silver coinage where you find wheat cents.
