Hey all! My first post here. Lots of great info, discussion, and people from the looks of things!

I came across this 1981 Kennedy 1/2 dollar. Copper / Sliver off center strike. Are these worth getting graded? I see all kinds of different kinds, with values ranging from face value to hundreds.

Thanks for any info / help you can provide!

Great coin, nice find!......you just don't see off center strikes on half dollars as often as you do other denominations. I would value it at around $100 and you can definitely have it slabbed and graded (AU would be my guess) but that would cost you about half of the value of the coin.

HH all!

Nice coin. I don’t think grading that coin is necessary to sell. The error is clear and evident and the coins grade really isn’t terribly critical. Very cool find. Did you buy it or find it CRHing?

Thanks for the info Greg! Much appreciated.

I see you're in the Berkshires - I'm down in Westfield. Small world!

Thanks! It was actually found in a bin of other old coins and "junk". Couple $2 star notes and some junk silver certificates, buffalo nickels, etc. Those I know are not really anything special, but this one I was stumped on. Appreciate you all getting back to me!

Wow, small world is right!.....I didn't attend Westfield State but drank my share of beer there in the late 80's while my buddy was attending there, lol....I'm in Peru, Mass, population 811, just the way I like it. :-)

That's a nice one. Probably not worth grading, as that can cost about $50.

Nice unusual find that you rarely see in modern day halfs.
