I hunted a park that will soon be Closed to MD’ing.
This park has been hunted hard over this last few years but it is 120 Acres.
I am sure there is some good stuff there yet.
I found my first Sliver Quarter for this year and a Thomas the Train, half of a Brass Padlock and a I don’t Know.
I was told today that it will be closed at the next Township Board meeting.
The reason they gave me is because of the mess that is always left behind.
I dug some trash myself, but also picked up about 2 buckets full of trash lying on the ground beside other holes.
If you dig it Up, Please clean it up.
It is just a few bad Apples that are hurting our Hobby.

The piece with the three swivels, came off a set of "president" suspenders or a set of "Shirley president" suspenders. Research this company and you will find ads with examples of their suspenders. That piece could be 100 years old.

Nice find And yes it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone else :BangHead:

Sorry to hear about the Park closeing to Metal Detecting and when it is close to home it really hurts. Its a shame that people can't pick up their trash and take the time to fix their holes. That's how it starts one park then another then another not a good sign :evil5: Congrats on the sliver hope it's not your last from that park.

flakefinder, I have known of this place for at least 10 years, and was given permission to hunt it about 7 years ago, and I did Not Do it. It has been a park now for about 5 years.
The true Fool here is ME. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead: Now we have 5 inches of snow on the ground.

Kind of funny I posted the exact same three swivel set in a post, 100 year old logging camp finds, a couple of weeks ago. I found it near a set of president suspenders. In researching the suspenders I found a couple ads from the early 1900's that have a drawing of a man wearing the suspenders shown from the back. The back has one three swivel set in the center Of the mans back. It anchors a single swivel set on each shoulder and another single swivel at the low back. Each of the four swivel sets on the back and the cords that ran through them must have provided the wearer some impressive movement. Amazing also that all three swivels still can still move after being buried for 100 years. I call them swivels for lack of a better term.

highnam, Thank you again for the info. The set in the picture has only 1 that will move, the center one. This still will not put me back into the time frame that I want. The homestead on this site was built in 1870 and burnt down in the depression. I know the History on this place now and I have Kicked myself many times over the past few months for not getting out there years ago. The Homestead on this property was owned by my Great, Great Grandfather. Kick, Kick, Kick.
I still have High Hopes for this site.
Thank you
Kevin
