Went back out today to my new spot. This time walked about 500 yrds to where I wanted to try right next to the wAter my first 4 signals were buttons. I hadn't walked but 30 or so feet in the new field when a truck pulls up to my mom a ways off then drives off. I walk to her and she said he didn't want use detecting she said she told him we had permission but he said he was the owner and we had got permission from the guy who he leases to. Well there goes this good spot. On the way out I just kept detecting and my last two signals were coppers :) A 1788 and a smooth KGIII.

Congrats on the two coppers, your 1788 looks like a kind of Vermont Copper, it might be a Connecticut copper though.

Thanks diggin dude. You'll get there soon congrats on the 1800s IP what do you mean by cross over piece.

I don't know if cross over is the correct term, but what I meant is that it's a mule, both part of the Machin's Mills and Connecticut series. (MM obverse & CT Reverse) Even though this is not considered a rare coin because of the numbers known, it's not something that happens a lot.... and if you were to discover a new mule never seen before it would probably sell well into the 5 digits. It's just cool when you find both a MM and CT in the same coin.
