2 Seated=70 cents

Had about an hour and a half to hunt tonight. I decided to try and find a homesite on the back of the farm. A late 1800's plat map showed a home there. The pasture where it was located is more like a waist high field of weeds right now. I was just wanting to find where the home sat and then detect it this winter. To make a long story short I found where the home sat and got a couple of bonuses.
This was the first coin out of the ground. I thought I had a quarter at first. Yes, I did damage the rim while trying to dig in the concrete like ground. I'm pretty sick about that. 1875s Twenty cent.



About 20 feet from the twenty center I got another sweet sounding signal. I dug "carefully" and came out with an 1876cc half dollar. One side is tarnished pretty badly, but it looks to be in pretty good shape otherwise.



I plan to go back later this year when it's a little easier to swing a coil. It looks like it might be a promising site.

DKW, WOW!! I saw the title of your post and said "HMMM two seated= 70c could it be??"Ah yes the elusive twenty center.A very uncommon find.I've been at this a long time and have never seen or heard of anyone finding one of those so kudos to you my friend!!!Those coins were only made for four years and two of the production years were proofs only so finding one of those is most uncommon.Although yours is of the highest mintage in the series it still deserves a big congrats (even though you dinged her )and in my opinion should take a little journey to the banner section!!Anyone else concur?Congrats Bootstrap
PS forgot to mention the half,CC mint mark,that's just awesome!!That in itself is a rare find up here in the north east!

DKW, congratulations on two amazing finds. I'm with the others...I couldn't sleep thinking about what still may be out there. I too have never seen a 20-center posted. That is just awesome....yes, banner for sure.
