Both are made of brass.Any ideas

beggining of a chain link

Cleaned it up a bit.Heres some more pics.It has a swing type joint.Very heavy, solid,same greenish paint color
as first item.What would the little handle on end be used for ?Thanks

The small arm on the end could be a stop so it cannot swivel past a set point and lock up the action
