Finally I finally got started on the new season. Having a torn meniscus and ACL have kept me in PT and out of the hunt until yesterday. This is a new park for me and it hosts a Firemen's Field Day each July 4th and I figured I'd hit a jackpot of coins...so I started where I thought the beer tent was and found absolutely NO coins! I found several old ring type poptops and they were deep too; but no pull tabs or coins. Weird! So, I headed toward the playground to see if any little kids dropped any coins under the monkey bars etc. NOPE! Nothin', so the next spot was a horseshoe pit, and a nice one too. It was well built, I might add. Anyway, coming around the end of it, I hit a clad $.25. Just a few feet away, I got a good Beep, not like a .25; but kinda hit or miss. So I turned down the disc to get a good signal and dug my plug...Low and behold, SILVER! It was a Sterling Silver Saint Christopher medal and a good one at 14 grams! Just another few feet away, I hit on a pocket spill and found 4 more clad .25s in the same hole! A clad dime and 6 Lincolns later I called it quits. A happy couple of hours it turned out to be! Not old stuff, but a good chunk of Sterling Silver to start my year off right.
