Isn't PCGS running a First found contest this year? Seems like I heard something about it and it might be more valuable than you think.

EDIT: Yes they are and here is the link if it is still relevant.
https://www.pcgs.com/2020quarterquest

Double EDIT: Yours does have the privy mark (V75) to the left of Washington's bust.

I would call PCGS and overnight it to them if COVID19 isn't hampering things. Last year a guy found one (the Mills one) and put it in the regular mail and had to split the $5000.00 prize with someone else because he took two days to mail it. Heck, for the $2,000.00 prize I would fly it there! :icon_thumleft:
PS. He also got an extra $2000 -$3000 when he auctioned it a Great Collections! People go crazy over a "First Found" label.

Get it to them ASAP and don't handle the coin with your fingers for the best grade. Put it in a flip if you have one or at least an envelope wrapped in foam or bubble wrap.
Nice coin but will probably go MS65 because of the ding on his cheek.

BTW- Congrats on finally finding one. Your timing couldn't be better.

Give PCGS a call tomorrow before shipping your precious find to them. PCGS has been intermittently closed due to "you know what." I'm not sure if they're open or operating normally right now. Plus, if someone already claimed the prize, it's pointless to ship.

Great find, and thanks for sharing it! Very exciting!

Prize has not claimed yet since they weren't released untill .... tomorrow!
Go to the PCGS contest link and scroll down to find very important information on how to label your box.
From the link:
"To be eligible for the any of the 2020-W pedigrees, submission packages must be clearly marked in black ink on all sides of the shipping package with the term, “FD20.”
Boxes and packages without being clearly delineated with “FD20” will not be eligible for special labels or rewards, no exceptions."

Probably best to call them for certain but their office was closed then re-opened.

By all means let us know how it turns out.

When you call them see what is acceptable in this "COVID" situation.
Don't wait too long today but their office is in Cal. so there is a two(?) hour time delay from you in Alabama, I think.

Best of luck and definitely let us know how it's going.

EDIT: It wouldn't hurt to fire off an email to them since they might be monitoring those remotely and maybe even at odd hours. Include your phone # and maybe even a link to your thread so they can see the images and reach you directly.

So I went ahead and sent it on i have overnighted it. We shall see. Maybe bank lobby’s being closed and all I willl have an advantage over the coin roll hunting community. It’s money but at the end of the day I am happy to have found the coin regardless of the outcome. Update I did call they aren’t working so it just will sit there till they are back in business I will have a post mark on the envelope so see what happens from there.

Congrats on getting it out. Hope you remembered put their required writing (“FD20”) on all sides of the package.

Yeah ended up changing at the postoffice to save a bit on shipping but I remembered before I handed it over

Well no good. Due to their office closing they canceled the contest for the first 2 quarters. Oh well atleast when I get it back it will be in a nice protective case I guess. Still will be designated as a first week of release. If that makes for anything *♂️
