Don't worry, I think you did fine - remember when you sell precious metals over the counter you're lucky to get 75% of spot gold .
unless you send it out to the refiners ( shipping /insurance =expenses ) I haven't crunched the numbers so I may be wrong , but I think
you did fine (and let's not forget you literally picked this up from the ground )

Great find! Thanks for sharing...

I live right across the street from a huge park with a mile jogging trail and 4 baseball fields, looks like i will have to add that to my list of things to hunt. Hopefully i get anything half as awesome as that!

Great find there!

NIIIIIICE !!!! thanks for sharing. Just makes me want to get out there more.

I guess I got ripped off I sold it for 900$.

You did fine. 29.8 x .917 = 27.317 grams of pure gold. 27.317/31.1 = .878 oz of gold. That gives you around $1155 of gold. If you sold it on ebay for 1150, ebay would take 10%, and paypal would take another 3% on top. So minus 115 and $34.50 - rounds up to $150. Then you probably would have offered free shipping, so there's another $20 gone. So that's 170 in fees. That equals $980, which is a little more, but you may have had to wait days for the auction to end, and then worry if it'll get there and if the buyer will be honest. So take the money, buy a few cold ones and don't look back.

Any story ? how deep , signal #? Surface find? Congrats on the gold!

The chain was about 5 inches deep and it also had 2 rings on it thay were very coroded that's what made me think it was fake it also had a pendant that i still have that looks like an upside down w i think it is indian it looks the same as the chain will post a picture later the signal was a jumpy 22 it was solid maybe because of the rings.

Lovely Thai Baht necklace. These Thai pieces are 22 or 23 karat gold and have the distinctive snakelike clasp. I found a smaller one a few years back - the color of the gold is just breathtaking. Found mine in the sand, but yours had to be gorgeous coming out of the dirt.

That is awesome. Someone is kicking himself for losing that baby
