Out digging again today in my friends little tiny yard.. and dug 26 coins....

8 quarters
2 nickels
5 dimes
11 pennies

a lock , a dry erase marker, some copper, a chrome metal dice , some more odds and ends

o and this weird looking bullet.. In the inside of the bullet there is a smaller circle punched in it a little further.. any thoughts , could be modern but idk.. found in the middle of the city... not likely someone would fire a gun where im digging.. im exactly 5 foot from the highway on a 20x50 foot lawn.

I don't believe that is a bullet. Looks more like a hexagonal plug....something from modern day era.

yea i was wondering that too, why it was hexagonal but the grooves on the outside an dome top just makes me think bullet... idk

I believe it is a set screw.

They come in various sizes and thread pitch, but this should be a fair representation of them:

There are some shown that have hex headed ends on them but of course yours is the "Allen head" type shown, in my opinion.

Hope this helps!

I have found fired bullets in yards in town from .22 to .45 and .30-06. Scary. I am sure many yard diggers have had the same experience.

I recently dig fired .380, and .45 slugs less than 20 yards from a baseball field in the park......

That is the same type of plug used in Well pump as well as autos, the hole in it should be for a Allen head wrench.

A property I owned years ago I found two .38 slugs and two smaller wadcutter type bullets, these were small around .32 cal. if I can find them I post a pic, maybe someone would know.

Almost as scary are the drops I have found, including several .45s and several I don't remember but are deer rifle calibers. Now how does one go about loosing a 3 inch piece of ammunition? In your front yard. "I have lost my bullet!" "Dahling, the dingo ate your bullet".

Last week I found three .40cal rounds- one still loaded. These were not old- I purchased the property 2 years ago from a state trooper and they were most likely his. If the primer was sealed than the round is still very much active.
