A stick and chewing gum
Primary Interest:
Beach & Shallow Water Hunting
Not that anyone cares but, I recently got my AT Pro and have been able to attack my back yard 2 times. I am new to detecting and have about an hour under my belt. All in my back yard which is now completely destroyed after chasing invisible targets. First round I found 26 cents. Second round I found 26 cents and a key. Obviously not very interesting to most, I just thought it was a strange coincidence. Have a great night.

Since I initially started this thread, I have probably put in over a 100 hours with the ATP. Figured out what works for me. Pro mode with no disc. I don't bother looking at the numbers any more and just dig by tone. After destroying my back yard, I now hit the beach every day. To feed/fuel my new addiction, I have since purchased a V3i, Sov GT, Garrett ADS VLF/TR and an Excal 1000. Currently researching the Tesoro line as well for dry sand hunting. Is this normal behavior?

you are obviously far wealthier than me to be able to afford so many machines within such a short time frame. if you grow tired of the V3i and decide to throw it away, send it to me.

I think you have the disease.
ZDD

You are showing signs of the sickness and addiction. Just be extremely careful when driving down the road and your eyes are scanning the woods on each side, instead of watching the road. I swear it's worse than texting and driving. When I pass a potential new spot, my head turns around 360 degrees like an owl. Did you hit the numbers to afford all those machines lol!!

I doubt you were chasing invisible targets, just need to get the pinpointing down and seeing what the number is reading on the scale versus what you have your iron discrimination set to. Sometimes they will beep until the machine it is sure that the number is supposed to be discriminated and then will go silent. I am sure that there is a target there, just maybe something you have discriminated from your mode or iron discrimination. Spend some time with surface targets that you placed on the ground and learn the sounds of the pinpointing mode meaning where the coil will tone and won’t tone compared to the target. Put that 52 cents to use as a learning aid. I have used a few different detectors to include a GTI 2500 and a Minelab SE Pro and I must say, I really enjoy hunting with my AT Pro. Good luck and put some time into learning and it will pay off.

Haha. Yeah, I catch myself scanning the ground now like a hobo looking for cigarette butts.

Definitely not wealthy. Just sold off a motorcycle and a lotta crud on Ebay recently. I just started using the V3i over the last couple days. It will be a while before I can get my head around it fully. Just using preset programs now to get use to it. 3 hrs= 1 silver ring, 2.50 clad, 4 game type tokens, and of course bottle caps and pull tabs. A lot less foil than the ATP and the pinpoint on it is great.

The AT Pro and the V3i will find you some good stuff once you get the hang of it. There is no substitute for experience !!
