I think this is my best/favorite target in the past couple years!

I got out to my favorite site for what will probably be the last hunt of the year on this site. The field has been planted and the corn is about an inch high so I won't be able to swing for much longer. Decided to make the best of the last hunt and attacked the main sites where the most targets have been found. Started finding the usual lead and scraps and then got a solid copper tone and dug the more than decent Geo II...as good as it gets for this area. Was working a couple more rows thinking the copper was the find of the hunt when I got a really shallow target. I flipped it out with my pinpointer and knew it was old silver! Thought Spanish at first until I saw Louis XV on the back...French Colonial silver! French silver is my absolute favorite to find...it's the reason I started detecting 11 years ago.

It's a 1729 1/5 Ecu (24 Sol)...a first for me! Very happy with this hunt! Tough to scout for new sites when my Old Favorite is producing targets like French silver and Rev War buttons!

HEY ROMEO SEE YOUR STILL AT IT. I HAVE BEEN OFF FOR A WHILE BUT I SEE YOU ARE STILL PULLING SOME NICE FINDS FROM THE GROUND .

Thanks for the comments...i'm still pumped from the hunt!

Beautiful silver 1729 1/5 Ecu find my friend, that site has produced some nice keepers for you over the past few weeks! :occasion14:

You're very fortunate to have some much history to find in the east!

Love these two pieces as well,
Dave

Amazing hunt and excellent French silver. It looks big too next to your KG. I'd love to find some British or French Colonial silver, to mix it up a bit from Spanish. These definitely don't turn up often. Awesome hunt man.

Outstanding find! I love the banged up, worn, well-used look as pointed out previously. Personally when I see wear and scratches on old silver I've found, it makes me daydream about where it's been and who held it.

Great snag!!

Nice digs and a beautiful silver

Yep...it's about the size of a 2 reale...pretty big for French silver.

Thanks for the pics. Really like that colonial French coin with readable date.....1729 WOW!

Now things are hotting up for you - congrats on that great looking silver!

Great finds. Maybe the farmer will give you free corn.

That's some great digging! Excellent site you found! :treasurechest::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

The site has me spoiled...been hunting it for 3 years! It's hard to go scouting for new sites when this one is still so productive. Not looking forward to the day when it's hunted out...

Thats one amazing coin!

Always amazing finds, when I grow up I wanna be as good as you.

What awesome finds! Congrats and HH

Very nice set of finds... however, completely overshadowed by that extremely cool colonial French coin. Wow... that's a really sweet coin. Jealous...
