Quite simply...what are the odds?? Finding two of these beauties within the span of a few months at the same site. The first was found with my MXT and made the banner here and today's find was sifting the dirt from a cellar hole 8' away from the first find. I'm speechless...which doesn't happen very often. I can't wait to get back there tomorrow!!!!

Happy Hunting Everyone

Re: George...meet George

The same thing happend to me last week! I was detecting along an old celler hole. Bang....good signal, I dug it and she was a beauty! Minutes later....Bag...another great signal!

Within 20 minutes I had dug two identical memorial pennies within feet of each other!

Ok, your finds are slightly better.......just incredible! :headbang: :headbang:

The odds are there is a full set in that area.

Agreed.

Do both of these examples have shanks on them?

The first one I found has the loop on the back...the 2nd does not. Maybe I should throw it away as damaged goods! :D

Congratulations on another fantastic find! Can you make a close up fine detail scan of only the oval on each button so we might understand the die varieties a little? It seems that there are small differences, but whithout seeing close-ups, it's too hard to tell. Terrific finds.

Hey Johnnie,

My computer is giving me fits...as soon as I can, I'll take care of that for you. I'm fairly sure they are both 5B buttons though. HH

We've tried to find the mate to ours, but you have done it ! Congratulations

The ball is in your court! If we keep this up, we'll destroy the market value on them!

Happy Hunting!

Hey, that will be great Rick. Once you get a side by side blow up of the centers it's sometimes possible to find out all sorts of things, for instance wear on the planchet that might cause one example to have wider parts of letters, etc.. Sometimes through breaks or wear you can even tell the order in which these were struck. There's so little known about some of these sub-varieties that it would be pretty neat to document this subtle, but I would guess important stuff.
