2nd silver from school site

[Ray in CA]

Today I got me a nice little 1920 Merc in my first 10 minutes. That makes two silver from this site and two religious pendants. Did not expect this site to produce anything at all but the last four consecutive hunts have proven otherwise.

And then I got this weird item. The round part on the outside turns a full 360º and is gold colored while the inner round part is silver colored. My first thought was a compact of some sort.

And here's the outside. I can see silver colored metal on the edges but then the patina hints at copper. Anybody ever seen one of these?

Looks like maybe the top to something like a talc powder bottle?

Congrats on those finds~ Nana

Ray,
Check out new member MrsFury post under Plantation Finds. I believe you both have dug up the same style of compact case as shown in her photos ... http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/20386416

Thanks everyone!

JRich, yes, that is almost the exact same item just a tad different shape on the outside! Must have been a ladies compact. Good searchin'!

SC Hunter, yeah the Merc is in pretty bad shape even after cleaning up. It's a tad bent and doesn't shine up like my other Mercs after cleaning. The backside has a scrape which must have been made by the discing of the field.
