Got out today with john845, who had a great day with an old Barber and a coin spill..... I had , what I thought was maybe an Indianhead signal.
Pulled a small silver from the dirt and thought it was a 1/2 dime.... Nope, an 1790 Spanish 1 Real..... It took me 30 years to find a 1/2 real, and now 10 days later, I have my 2nd 1700's Spanish... PS / this is a different site, of John's, 3 miles away.... Good Luck hunting to all...

I knew there had to be a Spanish sliver there after finding the coppers last week! Congrats on the second great way to start the year!!!!

holy cow man! awesome silver for sure! congrats (that would be a banner find for me in my mind!)

Jæjæjeeze Louise! Sweet.

Nice Spanish silver! Congrats on your second!

WOW, what a find, congratulations...now find me a gold coin and I will really be impressed :laughing9:

Your coin has the bust with the big nose of Carolus III, so its date should be 1790. A transitional coin. Carolus III died in 1789, but some coins in 1790 still carried his bust even though the name on the coin would say "Carolus IV" or "Carolus IIII". Good find!

Steve in PA, I took your advice, looking at older site's and it's paying off.... not many targets, but, they are good. I'll still take the Merc.'s, but, I'd rather find the Capped or Spanish..... Only about 65 more Spanish pcs and I'll catch you... lol
