3 different hunts, 3 different firsts: Morgan, seated quarter, and "V" nickel
Been loving the new Safari!
Was testing it out in an old pounded park last month and started pulling some wheats, and got a deep dime signal and ended up digging a deep (8") '24 Merc. Went back to the same area a week later and got a bouncy dime/quarter signal and to my surprise, after digging what seemed like forever, I got a handful of coin. Looking it over I knew it was a dollar, but never expected an 1883 Morgan!
Also got a 1915-s wheat among some of the 10 I got at this park that last year gave up nothing old. (to me).
This month, I decided to try a spot I have had my eye on for a year, an old train depot, and detected a spot near the old track bed. Nothing but copper wire, bullet casings, and some pieces of tin. Then I swung past a low, nickel tone, and figured it wasn't a pull tab in this area, so dug down only 2 inches and sure enough, it was a nickel. A 1997 "V" in excellent shape!
I went back this last Monday with a detecting buddy to show him the spot, and we hunted for 1 1/2 hours with nothing but junk and a memorial to show for our time. He called me over to help him dig a signal because his back gave out, but it was just junk. I wandered around the area and a few feet away got a solid high tone that was close to the dollar range, but pinpointed smaller. About 4" down I find the source: an 1888-s Seated quarter!

(without the mint mark it would have been a nifty key date)
I ended up knocking off 3 firsts in the first 2 month with Safari. Great step up from the X-Terra I had before.
Thanks for looking
