I was down about 6 inches and i see the bottom of a bottle.
I made the hole wider as i thought it might be a nice old bottle and didn't want to break it.
The iron lid was on the bottom of the hole around 10 inches deep and that was what i heard.
When i broke it apart it was a jar inside a jar.
The jar inside was face down near the iron lid with a brown cover that looks like plastic .
I put the jar in a plastic bag as i broke it.
The metal cap looked like it was stuck to the jar inside and i thought it was some kind of clear resin .Almost looked like wax but it was harder than wax.

Bottom of jar says S.F. Note in Jar 6-2-2018 021.JPG Note in Jar 6-2-2018 024.JPG
The top of jar shows the metal lid is set down inside the jar. See the second jar inside the other jar.And the notes inside it. I'm thinking the note in the bottle i found last year was written by the same person as this note and was about a city block away from the note last year.
They were wet and i hosed them off and dried them a little and scanned them.
Don"t ask what it means as i don't know anymore than you. Thanks

Just let us know what you think.

I cant get them to load so i will be back

I would not have been detecting in this area as the brush was thick and some so thick you couldn't get in .
Any way the city sent in some type of machine to clear all the brush and grind it up and i was able to now get in there and detect.
Here are some of todays pictures woods 001.JPG woods 002.JPG woods 004.JPG woods 005.JPG woods 006.JPG woods 008.JPG woods 009.JPG woods 010.JPG woods 011.JPG woods 011.JPG woods 014.JPG woods 015.JPG woods 016.JPG woods 017.JPG woods 025.JPG woods 026.JPG woods 028.JPG This Woodchuck is at home in the hollow tree .

Very cool find and interesting read, but I really wonder why the author found it so important to double seal and bury it. It's not like it's a diary or map to treasure....or is it? Maybe it's all a note to someone in code.

Dale i cant figure out how to move links over but you should check out the last notes roger found
in the same general area,it made banner, lots of people joined in and did some great research, hope some of those
guys see this and joined in, also gonna need to figure out how to move links from other post's on
t-net i think it will help figure it out.

some of the names we found from the other note were

Frank Hubachek, traced him from Linn county Iowa to Wisconsin several places in the early 1900's
he owned or kept a saloon in Chipewa fall's, then he was back in Linn county, then in either North Dakota or South Dakota
but just barely across the state line then in Minnesota where he lived the rest of his life.

Joseph Holets

Anton Holets

Anna Zahradnik

all of these we can trace to Linn county Iowa

two names we never could put a posotive id on were

Frank Rolland
and
Arty Kendy

TOOMANYHOBBIES, yes this is why i have persued this

the last notes talk of being robbed, and being ''Driven in'' and talk about being killed
almost like he was leaving the notes as evidence in case he came up missing

Amazing! When i was about 12 maybe 13 i found some very detailed love letters. (Was sexual so we will keep it G) The woman was writing to her husband in world war one. Well my mother found and read them, she was disgusted with them and tossed them in the waste basket.

Told my mom mine were for school anatomy class. FAIL!

I'm kind late on this, but it almost sounds like someone describing what pictures are to me. You might have a jar of photos or drawings still out there. I'm pretty sure you guys have already, but have you done any searches in the Library of Congress Newspaper archives? It might've hit the papers.

this other note is more interesting it was found in a whiskey type
flask also the lid says fruit industries which we found didnt come into
existence untill about 1931,the notes are writen on old butcher
order slips, we found that the first butcher in Rochester owned land
land on the railroad near where the notes were found, his name was George Baihly,
he died in 1896, his sons took over the buisness and later partnered up with
Frank Rommell.
